FHHS College and Career Counselor
Francis Howell High School is happy to announce we will have a full-time College and Career Counselor beginning July 2020.  Mrs. Jennifer Lowrey, current professional school counselor, will be taking over this role and looks forward to helping all students with their college and career goals, including college applications and letters of recommendation.  Seniors working on their college applications this summer should send all letter of recommendation requests to Mrs. Lowrey at [email protected] along with a resume of their activities, community service, awards, etc.  All recommendation requests through Common App should also go to Mrs. Lowrey as well, and not the student’s current counselor, as Mrs. Lowrey will complete letters of recommendation for all students.  Follow the FHHS College and Career on twitter @FHHSCollege to learn about new and exciting events happening through the FHHS College and Career Office.

School & Military Visits: Representatives from colleges, technical and trade schools and the military visit the FHHS campus regularly. To find out who is coming and when, check out the Guidance Calendar or Enews. School representatives meet with junior and senior students in the Guidance Office Conference Room. Students must get a pass in advance from the Guidance Secretary to meet with representatives. Representatives from the military come once a month and will set up a table in the lobby outside the lunch room. Students can visit at their leisure during their lunch time. A pass is not required.

To find out when school and military representatives will be here, check the calendar on the whiteboards located on the wall in front of the guidance office. This information is also available by viewing the guidance calendar.

SCOIR
Francis Howell School District is pleased to introduce a new college & career planning guidance system called SCOIR (pronounced “Score”) to help you prepare for and navigate the college search, selection and application process. SCOIR also has financial tools for parents to calculate an accurate cost of attendance that will help you decide whether to apply. Additionally, SCOIR has partnered with Pymetrics, a neuroscience software company measuring traits and behaviors, to bring your students Career Interest. The best part? Their analysis is measured via game playing...not questionnaires. When the games are completed your students will have a better understanding of their inherent traits and characteristics, how those apply to different career opportunities, and which fields of study relate to those careers.
