The Future Has Arrived at Francis Howell High School

FHHS Open House

There is no better time to get involved than now. That’s what more than 800 students and parents decided when they turned out for Francis Howell High School’s Open House for eighth graders. It was a chance for future students and their parents to learn more about the tremendous opportunities that will be available to them once they go through the FHHS doors as freshmen for the 2017-18 school year.

For many parents, it was a time to reconnect with their old school, and to pass the torch to the next generation of Vikings. For others, it was an eye-opening experience as to what the school has to offer their child. And for students, it was a sneak peek into the engaging and stimulating environment that FHHS has become.

If anyone knows about all the great things FHHS has to offer students, it would be Activities Director Sean Erwin. “It’s great to see our incoming eighth graders and their parents engaged and wanting to learn more about Francis Howell and the Viking family,” Erwin said. “It is always exciting to see how passionate that our parents and students are about getting involved and making the high school experience an overwhelming success.”

Parents and students had the opportunity to listen to students, staff, and parents talk about the experience they will soon be part of at Howell. Those in attendance also had the opportunity to take part in mini-sessions, which allowed them to focus on areas of interest. Many parents and students took part in the Activities Department sessions, enabling them to learn more about how they can become involved and be part of the "Howell Family."

“I hope that all students and parents found the evening beneficial,” Erwin said, “and were able to gain valuable information that will help ensure a smooth transition from middle school to high school.”
