FHSD Named a Top Workplace for Fifth Consecutive Year

Posted on 06/25/2017

The Francis Howell School District (FHSD) is proud to announce that it has been selected as one of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Top Workplaces for the fifth consecutive year. FHSD ranked in the Top Workplace large business category, which is comprised of similarly-sized organizations and featured four school districts.

“It is an honor to be named a Top Workplace yet again, particularly because the results are based on the way our employees perceive our own organization,” said Superintendent, Dr. Mary Hendricks-Harris. “We greatly value our wonderful staff. It is their hard work and dedication that drive the success of the Francis Howell School District and our students.”

All FHSD employees had the opportunity to take the confidential workplace survey earlier this spring, which focused on organizational health and employee engagement.
Nearly 1,500 responses were received over a three-week period from approximately 2,300 FHSD employees, a 63 percent response rate.

“The Top Workplaces award is not a popularity contest. And oftentimes, people assume it’s all about fancy perks and benefits,” says Doug Claffey, CEO of WorkplaceDynamics. “But to be a Top Workplace, organizations must meet our strict standards for organizational health. And who better to ask about work life than the people who live the culture every day—the employees.”

This year, 120 companies, nonprofit groups, and government agencies agreed to participate in the
St. Louis Post-Dispatch Top Work Places confidential survey, conducted by Workplace Dynamics, LLC. The participants were from organizations that employ more than 65,000 people in the Greater St. Louis area; more than 35,000 responded to the confidential survey.
