Mu Alpha Theta is a national high school and junior college mathematics association geared toward students pursing higher levels of math. The purpose is to promote interest in mathematics across the country. Members are required to attend monthly meetings, tutor math students during Howell Time, and participate in month Missouri Math League math contests. Members must have taken, or currently be in, Algebra 2, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be enrolled in a math class each year. Seniors can earn an honor cord to wear at graduation. Yearly dues are $10 per member.
