Aly Raden Awarded 2017 Trevor Joerling Memorial Scholarship

The Trevor Joerling Memorial Scholarship was established in 2015 to honor Francis Howell High School (FHHS) Limelight Theatre Drama Club member Trevor Joerling, who lost a brave fight with cancer in 2014. It is with love and fond remembrance that this scholarship is awarded in his name. This year’s recipient is senior Aly Raden, the daughter of Beth and Kent Raden of O’Fallon, Missouri.

Raden has been involved with the FHHS Drama Club for three years, participating in several productions, including playing Emily Webb in the 2015 performance of “Our Town.”  You can also catch Aly at the local community theatre; she recently won a Theatre Mask Award for her performance in O’Fallon Theatre Work’s “The Diary of Anne Frank.”  Raden was also recently involved with the Wentzville Christian Church’s production of “Beauty and the Beast,” which was nominated for 18 Best Performance Awards.

To Raden, giving back to her community is not just an act. She works with the St. Louis Children’s Hospital Youth Council, and volunteers a large amount of time at the hospital, assisting with fundraisers and numerous events. Raden also works for Parties by Prilla, a company that provides costumed characters for private parties, as well as community events for various charities in the area. She is also a member of the National Honor Society.

Raden cherishes this honor, and hopes she can live up to the spirit and positive attitude always displayed by Joerling. “I would like to say thank you to Trevor!” she said. “Even though I didn't know him very well, Trevor inspired me to begin volunteering at Children's Hospitals, and ultimately to choose to work with hospitalized children for the rest of my life. I will forever be dedicating my work as a Child Life Specialist to Trevor.”
