The Francis Howell School District honored 231 graduating seniors from Francis Howell High (FHHS), Francis Howell Central (FHC), and Francis Howell North (FHN) high schools at a special luncheon held in their honor at Old Hickory Golf Club on Friday, April 7. This group of FHSD seniors achieved a grade point average of 4.0 or above.
FHSD students appreciated the light-hearted entertainment provided by the principals, but the salute was certainally heartfelt. FHC senior Faith Hiles said “It’s pretty exciting, you worked really hard for four years to maintain a high GPA, and it’s a really nice reward. I feel like the 4.0 luncheon is great recognition, I looked forward to it all year!”
Dan Borrelli of FHN had similar sentiments. “It’s a really good way to recognize everything that we’ve all done through high school,” he said. “It took a lot of work to get here, and it means a lot to me that we get to be recognized for this.”
The 4.0 Luncheon started as part of the Renaissance Program, a partnership between students, staff, parents, and businesses to enhance and recognize academic achievement. The program provides the community with the opportunity to support students in their pursuit of academic excellence. Through Renaissance, businesses provide tangible short and long-term rewards for students who can earn academic recognition.
The 4.0 Luncheon is an opportunity to celebrate the wonderful young adults who have achieved the highest academic standard possible in FHSD. “Today is a tremendous celebration of four years of leadership and hard work for those students who have set the tone in our schools for achievement, attendance, behavior and involvement,” said FHHS Principal Dr. Dave Wedlock. “This is what success looks like in our District.”
