DECA students from FHSD competed at the state level on March 24-26 in Kansas City, Missouri. Over 1,800 high school students from across the state came together this year for the state competition. These events help prepare students for a future in marketing, management, and merchandising. DECA teaches students to assume responsibility for self-improvement and discipline and set a realistic self-concept through a variety of activities. DECA competitions help students become more knowledgeable about today’s economy and acquiring skills that advance their studies.
In total, 20 FHSD students will move on to the international level of competition at the International DECA Career Development Conference, April 26 - May 1, in Orlando, Florida.
DECA is an international association of high school students studying marketing, management, and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality, and marketing sales and service. More than 180,000 students from the United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands are involved.
Congratulations to these DECA students for going above and beyond!
