Journalism has changed significantly over the years. As our world adapts to new forms of media, high school students in FHSD are rising to the challenge. Journalism students across the District have been awarded, named, and recognized for their great achievements this year by various journalism organizations, including the Missouri Journalism Education Association (MJEA), National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA), Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA), and Missouri Interscholastic Press Association (MIPA). Congratulations to these talented journalists!
“These students don’t put in all the time they do to win awards, but getting recognized definitely helps to show the impact and quality of what they’ve put so many hours of care and work into. We’re so proud of the members of our FHN crew who were named - definitely leaders and role models in the program.” – Jordyn Kiel, FHN Communication Arts Teacher

“Without question, the work and students honored are some of the best students who graced my classroom during this school year. They are first-class student journalists and creatives who put an inordinate amount of time into their craft, whether it is writing, illustration, or photography. Their hard work only continues to raise the bar for the students who will come on the publications staff next year.” – Matthew Schott, FHC Publications Adviser

“Each year, the students make me so proud because they rise to the occasion. They go far above and beyond. At Howell, we are a smaller staff, but we are committed to excellence and to the legacy that’s been created by all those who come before. These students who’ve received these awards continue to represent that tradition on a local, state, and national level.” – Michelle Dunaway, FHHS Communications Arts Teacher
