The FHSD Board of Education recently approved the selection of Holly Avis as the dean of students at Francis Howell High School, effective July 1, 2020. Avis is replacing Rachel Quintana, who has accepted a position in another school district.

Being student-centered, Avis is looking forward to building new relationships in her leadership role at FHHS. “I am humbled and excited for the opportunity to serve the students, staff, and families in our Viking community,” said Avis. “I look forward to working collaboratively with the exceptional FHHS team of educators to continue the Viking tradition of excellence.”

Avis began her career as a language arts/reading/achievement teacher in 2007 in the Warren County School District. She also taught in the Wright City School District before joining the Francis Howell School District in 2013. She has served FHSD as an English teacher at Francis Howell Middle, as a teacher leader, and as a LEAP administrative intern. Additionally, she developed FHSD’s eighth grade English Language Arts curriculum, co-facilitated building Classroom Instruction that Works professional development, and served as a mentor and coach for novice teachers.

Avis has a Bachelor of Science in English and a writing certificate, as well as a master’s in education and teaching certificate from Missouri Baptist University. She earned her specialist in administration and doctorate of education in instructional leadership from Lindenwood University.
